The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a key global development network established in 1965, dedicated to eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, and fostering resilient nations. Operating in nearly 170 countries, the UNDP collaborates with governments and local communities to tackle various development challenges while striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its core focus areas include sustainable development, democratic governance, peacebuilding, climate change, and disaster resilience. By enhancing policies, leadership skills, and institutional capacities, the UNDP plays a crucial role in supporting countries to sustain development results and improve the quality of life for their populations. The UNDP’s initiatives not only address immediate needs but also promote long-term strategies for inclusive economic growth and social equity, making it a vital player in global efforts to create a more sustainable and equitable world.
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a United Nations body established on March 15, 2006, with the mission of promoting and protecting human rights around the world. The Council has 47 members elected by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) for staggered three-year terms on a regional group basis. The UNHRC investigates allegations of human rights breaches in UN Member States and addresses thematic human rights issues such as freedom of association, assembly, expression, belief, religion, women’s rights, LGBT rights, and the rights of racial and ethnic minorities. Several international human rights instruments, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, provide the legal framework and guiding principles for the UNHRC’s efforts to uphold these fundamental rights and hold Member States accountable for their obligations under international law through its investigative and advocacy work
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is a crucial body within the United Nations tasked with addressing global challenges related to peace, security, and disarmament. This committee seeks to mitigate international threats and stabilize security through the regulation of armaments and promotion of cooperative measures. One of the key issues currently under DISEC’s consideration is the demilitarization of Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has been a point of contention between India and Pakistan since the partition of British India in 1947. The conflict in this region is rooted in historical, political, and military factors, and has persisted due to both nations’ competing territorial claims and the involvement of various militant groups. DISEC aims to explore solutions for this ongoing conflict by engaging in thematic discussions, drafting action plans, and collaborating with the United Nations Disarmament Commission to foster peace and stability in the region.

Miniland English High School’s 2002 event was highly interactive and social, with supportive members and excellent first-day lunch. However, mobile access led to plagiarism issues, possibly affecting the marking process.
I liked it very much. It was my first time participating in MUN, and I am sure I will join the upcoming events too. I like the way they teach and how open-minded they are.
